Kati & Charlie | Deer Flat Ranch Wedding in Nampa, Idaho

There are some weddings that feel beautiful because of the details, and there are some weddings that feel beautiful because of the people. Kati and Charlie’s wedding at Deer Flat Ranch somehow managed to be both.

Nestled just outside of Nampa, Idaho, Deer Flat Ranch has been in Charlie’s family for years, making their wedding day feel less like an event and more like an invitation into something deeply personal. Every corner of the property held meaning, every detail had a story, and you could feel that from the moment guests arrived. One of my favorite details from the day was the flowers. Not because they were extravagant (although they were stunning), but because almost every single flower had been grown right there on the property by Charlie’s sister, Maura. (Then brought to life by the incredible local Florist Wayward Greens) Knowing the hands that planted, cared for, and gathered those blooms made them feel like so much more than wedding decor. They were part of the story.

And honestly, that’s what I loved most about this wedding. Nothing felt forced. Nothing felt like it was done because Pinterest said it should be. Every detail felt like Kate and Charlie. Huge props to the design by Ivory and Sage & Planning team Capital Occasions.

Their ceremony overlooked the Idaho countryside & Lake Lowell as family and friends gathered to celebrate the start of their marriage. There were happy tears, laughter, and the kind of moments that remind me why I love photographing weddings in the first place.

But if you ask me what I’ll remember most from this day?

The party.

I’ve photographed a lot of wedding receptions over the years, and this one was next level.

Instead of choosing between a DJ or a live band, Kate and Charlie said, “Why not both?” They hired Haute Mobile Disco .The combination created one of the most energetic dance floors I’ve ever seen. The live musicians brought the excitement, the DJ kept the momentum going, and somehow the energy never dropped all night. The dance floor was packed. Every. Single. Song. The kind of reception where guests are kicking off their shoes, singing at the top of their lungs, and completely losing track of time because they’re having that much fun.

As a Boise wedding photographer, these are the weddings I find myself thinking about long after they’re over. Not because everything was perfect, but because it was meaningful. It was personal. It was full of people who genuinely loved being there.
